McNair Edits
Here's the deal. My name's Don McNair, and I've been a professional
editor for more than 40 years. I’ll edit that first chapter and return it with a
4- to 6-page, single-spaced critique, pointing out things you may have
been doing wrong your whole writing career. Areas will include
appearance, hooks, plot, motivation, dialogue, setting, point of view,
research, conflict, voice, and more.
But--just as important--I’ll also apply the 21 Steps to Fog-Free Writing.
With them we'll edit weak verb forms, strip away author intrusions, identify
character filters, ban redundancies, eliminate foggy phrases, correct
passive voice sentences, slash misused and overused words, and correct
other writing bugaboos. These are all problems an editor or agent won't
tell you about. But they could keep you from being published!
The edited chapter and report will give you much more than a listing of
first-chapter problems. It will be a major education, tailored to help you
identify and overcome specific, personal writing challenges found in your
whole manuscript. When you apply this new knowledge to the rest of your
book you'll immediately make it a better read.
The first-chapter (up to 25 pages) comprehensive edit and critique costs
$195, payable when you submit the material. I'll devote 12 to 15 hours to
your chapter, and provide you a completely edited and annotated version,
another version in which all the suggested changes have been made, and
a detailed, 4-6 page letter identifying your specific problems and their
solutions.
If you want, I'll evaluate or edit the rest of your book .My rates, which are
at or below those of other professional editors, appear below.
Ready for me to get to work? E-mail that first chapter as an attachment to
Don@McNairEdits.com. Please send it as a MS Word.doc or .rtf file,
double-spaced in 12 pt. Courier New or New Times Roman font. Either
pay through PayPal or send a check or money order to:
Editor-proof that first chapter!

Note: My editing your manuscript is no guarantee that a publisher will want to buy it. Such decisions, unfortunately, are often based on factors unrelated to writing quality.
|
Publishers and agents reject 99 percent of received manuscripts based simply on glancing at their first chapters. Send me that chapter and I'll show you WHY they rejected it. And tell you how to fix it!
|
Editor-proof your first chapter--$195: Editors reject
manuscripts based on reading their first chapters. I’ll
thoroughly edit that chapter (up to 25 pages) and, in a 6-8
page letter, tell you what specific writing problems you face
and how to solve them. You’ll wind up with an editor-proof
chapter and the knowledge needed to self-edit the rest of
your manuscript.
Edit your manuscript--$3 per 250-word page: Most
writers need editing. I’ll thorough edit your manuscript, and
tell you of structural problems.
